When Should Braces Begin?
The Right Time For An Orthodontic Check-Up:
No Later Than Age 7.
Children
When treatment begins depends upon the dental problem and how mature the jaws and teeth are. Overbites (Class II) and underbites (Class III) are often treated while the jaws are still growing. This is likely to be between age 6 and 9. Dr. Shah sometimes wait until all the adult teeth are in before correcting a normal bite with crooked teeth (Class I). This may be around age 11. Since the best age for treatment varies with each case, it ’ s wise to see Dr. Shah by the time your child is 7 years old.
Adults
